Hamlib usually only works with 1 application at a time. You can go to
the hamlib home page and look under FAQs to see how to use more than 1
instance of hamlib.

Hamlib does not as far as I know support PTT for the Omni6.

Means some other app is using the sound card. Firefox maybe or System
sounds. 

Hamlib does not support PTT for the Omni6.

Yes it does and very well /dev/ttyUSB0.

One more point to ponder Jan. The next mail you sent was composed using
HTML. Be aware that plain text messages are preferred. 

This is as good a place as any. Most of could care less as long as it
pertains to Linux and Ham Radio.
