Well, duh, now that I've re-read this carefully, I see my analysis is utterly
wrong, so that the very motivation that brought the version bump ceases to
exist. So a simple "version downgrade" will be good enough for the moment,
without any need to introduce a new 'ng' option. See the attached patch
(which should report a correct analysis and explanation this time); I will
push it tomorrow if there is no objection.
