Hello avrdudes,

I'm trying to read out some contents of (or otherwise communicate with)
an AVR Dragon test board (obtained last week in Nuremberg).

 avrdude -c dragon_jtag -p m2560 -b 250000 -U flash:r:flash.dump

This ends with RSP_NO_TARGET_POWER:
avrdude: jtagmkII_reset(): bad response to reset command: RSP_NO_TARGET_POWER
avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
        this check.
avrdude: jtagmkII_close(): bad response to GO command: RSP_NO_TARGET_POWER
avrdude done. Thank you.

The same happens when trying dragon_isp instead of dragon_jtag,
issuing other commands such as '-e'.

(If useful, pin voltages and full verbose -vvvv output at
http://www.blasum.net/holger/journal/20070223/avrdude-avrdragon.txt)

USB hardware:
lsusb output of attached devices:
Bus 001 Device 030: ID 03eb:2107 Atmel Corp. <- the dragon
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0606 Genesys Logic, Inc. <- a USB 2.0 hub I
added in between to make sure we have enough power, same error without
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

usb controller on armada m300 laptop (I think this is USB 1.0,
it seems to be from 1997):
0000:00:07.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 USB (rev 01)

USB software:
I'm using libusb-0.1.12 (dpkg 0.1.12-2), kernel is 2.6.19.1 (compile
options see end of
http://www.blasum.net/holger/journal/20070223/avrdude-avrdragon.txt) .

Thanks in advance for any hints (e.g. what to look at),
