Automake 1.7.2b problem

I've tried to use it with current GNU grep.

I've discovered a weird behaviour: a self-contained exmaple.tar.gz is
attached to this mail.

Try:
$ tar zxf example.tar.gz
$ cd example
$ aclocal -I m4
$ autoheader
configure.in:82: warning: AC_CANONICAL_HOST invoked multiple times
configure.in:82: warning: AC_CANONICAL_HOST invoked multiple times
$

The macro is not called multiple times, it's only AC-REQUIRE'd multiple
times.
What does this mean?

When you try to run autoheader again, it runs silently.

My configuration: libtool 1.4e (previously tried 1.4.2), autoconf 2.57.
