Portability warnings: split into non-GNU and non-portable?

automake 1.10 has started complaining about GNU Make-isms. This is fair enough, but it seems to satisfy a fairly small constituency (those using GNU autotools without GNU make) while annoying a rather larger one (those who enjoy the power of GNU make). While I understand why you'd want to make these warnings appear by default, it'd be nice to have a way to turn them off.

"That's -Wno-portability!" I hear you cry. Ah, but the documentation only tells me that -Wportability catches portability errors *including* GNU make-isms. I'm still keen to know about other portability errors I make.

Would it be possible to have separate warnings for use of GNU extensions and other non-portable usages? This would make life easier for the punctilious developer who also is content to require a GNU build environment.
