Hello Roman,

of course I am aware that cvs snapshots may be broken, but (popup-) menus
have been more or less unuseable (for me, on ctwm) for about two weeks now,
despite a dozen fixes by Lillian and you. This unfortunately includes the
0.19 release version... and it makes testing classpath a pretty frustrating
experience.

To make sure about your invalidate() patch, I just re-built classpath cvs
head from scratch. The performance is still bad, but now selecting items
from the popup-menu shows horrible flicker, too.

Please try to run the attached classpath-test-version of my imageviewer
application (sorry for all the debug code in there; I usually leave such
stuff in during development), and let me know whether your can
reproduce the performance regression and the flickering with the popup-menu
and during mouse-dragging or image-resizing.

jamvm -jar niffler.jar <name-of-a-directory-with-images>

Otherwise, just compile the sourcecode yourself (makefile included). Please
use reasonably big images (xga or up, typical digicam images work fine)
instead of icons, if you want to see the performance issues. After the window
appears, try to resize the tree (comes up way to big), then use the popop-menu
or select the bindkeys:

n - next image
p - previous image
v - show/hide tree
w - save image to favorites dir (~/.niffler/)
f - zoom fit
F - zoom fit width
g - original size
z - zoom out
Z - zoom in
...

- Norman
