Error with Update Manager

Unknown Error: '<type 'exceptions.SystemError'>' (E: The package skype 
needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it)*


This error line appeared after I tried to install a beta version of 
Skype software. Since then it is impossible to install either software 
or updates. The update manager quits as well.

What can I do? (I'm very unexperienced with Linux, however, a few weeks 
ago I bought a laptop with Ubuntu on it.... and I like it :-) )
