Personally,   I don't use Mac, so I cannot say what the problem might be.

However I vaguely recall a similar bug report some months back.
You don't say which version of PSPP you are using.  Perhaps the problem has
already been fixed.  

If you give a little more information, then perhaps somebody experienced with
Mac might be able to help.  For example, you say "when I save the file...".
HOW are you saving it?  Using the SAVE command or the XSAVE command or 
something else?
Including  a short syntax file to demonstrate the problem might help the 
developers
fix it.
