This is not normal behaviour. I just verified on a Solaris 2.6 machine
that unpacking, "./configure", "make", "make install", do not exhibit
this problem.
Maybe you have copied the gperf 2.7.2 sources using "cp" after
unpacking them? In that case, please use "cp -p -r" instead.
Could you please verify that the timestamps of three files in the
gperf-2.7.2/doc directory? Here I get
$ ls -l --full-time gperf.info gperf.texi gpl.texinfo
-rw-r--r-- 1 haible users 63453 Tue Sep 26 12:57:11 2000 gperf.info
-rw-r--r-- 1 haible users 44245 Tue Sep 26 12:57:05 2000 gperf.texi
-rw-r--r-- 1 haible users 18458 Sat Aug 19 09:42:32 2000 gpl.texinfo
As you can see, gperf.info is the newest among the three.
