BUG IN DYNAMIC LINKER ld.so

I have exprerienced a bug in ld when I attempt to run two programs:

BUG IN DYNAMIC LINKER ld.so: dl-version.c: 210: _dl_check_map_versions:
Assertion `needed != ((void *)0)' failed!

Here are the programs, both are released under the GPL:

QuakeForge, available at

I provide the Makefiles as attachements below.


Software:
- I use gcc 2.95.2 for compiling these programs.

- GNU ld version 2.9.5 supporting elf_i386 and i386linux emulations.

- Running on Mandrake 7.0 / linux-2.2.14-15mdk, original build from
installation, no recompiling of the kernel.

- I assume that the same gcc installed (rpm package gcc 2.95.2-3mdk) was
used for compiling all utilities in my box since I never installed a newer
version of gcc or binutils.

- Both are 3D graphics programs using MesaLib version 3.4.1 available at 
ftp://ftp.mesa3d.org/pub/sourceforge/mesa3d/MesaLib-3.4.1.tar.gz

- I also used Glide libraries for my Monster Voodoo II card.  They are
now unavailable from the 3DFX site since it's demise.  They are too big to
attach to this e-mail report.  I can provide them to anyone by request
(rpm versions only).

I have succesfully compiled and run other GPL'd 3D programs (Tuxracer,
Asteroids) without any problems.  No other anomalies to report.

Any other suggestions welcome.
