Which version of GNU strip are you using ?  Unless it is 2.11.2 then
it is an old version and the first thing to try is upgrading to this
latest release.

If you are using version 2.11.2 then would it be possible for you to
provide some more details about the problem.  For example if you run
"readelf -a" on the two stripped executables, what are the
differences ?
