Thanks for your reply.

We did more digging on the HP site and I think we found the problem:

After applying the two patches:

PHSS_26792                    ANSI C compiler B.11.11.04 cumulative 
patch
PHSS_26793                    +O4/PBO Compiler B.11.11.04 cumulative 
patch

bison-1.35 compiles just as expected.

Wow!  how strange!

Maybe Bruno has already heard of this problem?  I don't know what
fools your compiler.
