plotutils-2.4.1

Hello, 

I'm trying to compile plotutils-2.4.1, but I am getting the following error:

I am using:
gcc (GCC) 3.3.6
glibc-2.3.5
Linux kernel 2.6.12

Questions
 * Is my setup somehow not correct for compiling plotutils-2.4.1? 
 * Should I expect a new version soon that fixes this problem?
 * Do you have a patch? If so, please send it to me.
