FYI, building xgawk on Fedora 13 should be pretty easy:
env PATH=$PATH:. rpmbuild -tb xgawk-3.1.6-20080101.tar.gz
(the PATH nonsense is due to a bug in a Makefile that is now patched
in CVS). What make check errors did you get?
