Well...
Here it shows normal.
Indeed: "I do notice for a fraction of a second....",
but then it shows clear.

So: I have no idea what is happening on your machine.

The refresh of the annotation window (GTK+ 1.3 bug, but I think Jon 
make a workaround) is implemented about one month ago.
And I don't recall seeing a scrambled text since.

One exception: if you delete lines in a long annotation, you will see 
'scrambled' text.
But not when you browse through a match.
