I did consider it, but I was a bit concerned over how well gnubg would
deal with a session of say 1296 games. I hesitate to think what the
drop down menus to select a game would be like (and the thought of
having to click forward 200 games to find one of interest might also
be less than appealing).

I also thought it might be more useful for Michel if he had an
individual trial with what he considered interesting or wrong play by
gnubg, it would be easier to import into Snowie/Jellyfish or
whatever. 

The changes would be simple enough - remove the bit of the sprintf
that encodes the trial number and open the file in append mode would
be sufficient.
