I'm aware of this problem, and I should have mentioned it on the web page.
The situation is that the base.bmp, board.bmp and hinge.bmp textures is
requested by your old setting file. (.gnubgautorc)

I had two alternatives when I made the archive:

1. If the user installs the new archive, the previous settings
   are kept, and he will have the above warning of textures that's
   not found. (these textures are abandoned in the new archive.)

or...

2. Overwrite the users settings for the new installation. I don't
   find this very polite....

I picked the first one.

Solution:
Open the settings file, .gnubgautorc, in your favorite text editor. (That's
Vim, isn't it?). Find the line that starts with 'set appearence', and delete
this line. (It's long line). Save file and restart gnubg.
