I guess it fits into the "open whatever you like" model... Maybe it would make more sense to put these two (command files and python scripts) and perhaps met files (and anything else, I suppose settings files are just command files) into a different "open ???" option. Maybe "Open script"?
On the other hand I wouldn't mind adding python scripts to the file list (it would certainly be less work).
