Without the option --without-db, the configuration ended with the error
message "Berkeley DB db.h is missing". If there were 4 possible DB
implementations on the system,
- configure should not have said "Berkeley DB db.h is missing",
- configure should have picked one (I don't mind which one).

Yes, "make" completed without errors.
