Your README patch is good, thanks. I've committed it.

In the end, any sizable contribution to gnulib has to be assigned to the FSF,
and once the contributor has submitted his copyright assignments, it doesn't
matter legally whether the intention was to contribute under GPL or LGPL 
license.
Your README addition, however, still serves the purpose of avoiding
misunderstanding and disappointment.
