In the past it's been traditionally released under both tar.xf and tar.bz2, so we might as well settle on one. Another thing that might be the source of the issue is that I use the bzr repo and run "bzr export" at the end to generate the directories ready to be compressed.The building process worked well. Icecat-12 starts and seems to be ok.
