Thanks for your work on this!!  I'll test the patch later this week.

Yes, good catch, that's another situation where output will need user
fiddling.

Agreed: I'm still of the mind that -me shouldn't be too reengineered to fix an
edge case, so working within its existing framework as much as possible is
good.  Additionally, since this is something that the user almost certainly
will need to fix, an error is arguably more appropriate.  (It shouldn't be a
fatal one, but it appears -me doesn't really have those either, except for one
case where an @err call is followed by an .ab.)
