Probably by the time groff 1.24 releases, Solaris 10 will be dead.

So we could undo this:

2018-12-08  Deri James  <deri@chuzzlewit.myzen.co.uk>

        Problem running gropdf on big endian (Sparc)

        * src/devices/gropdf/gropdf.pl: Prior to perl v5.9 the 'L<'
        template for 'unpack' was unavailable. Solaris 10 uses v5.8.4
        so safer to use the template 'V' rather than 'L<'.

We could then officially bump the minimum required Perl version up to 5.9.
Currently we say we can manage with 5.6.1 (INSTALL.extra).
