I've installed Red Hat 7.3 on a third hard drive
on this machine with Grub as boot loader on a 100 MB boot partition (hdc1). Grub
is successful initialized by System Commander, the graphical menu is displayed,
it times down to the default choice (Red Hat 7.3) and an error message,
#28, is displayed to the effect that something is not properly fitting into
memory. The second drive on this machine contains SuSE 8.0 which is being booted
without difficulty by Lilo which is installed into the MBR. Futher, I can
install Mandrake 8.2 on the same drive as the one I'm having trouble with with
Red Hat 7.3, and it loads perfectly well. The problem also happens with Red
Hat 7.3 if I use Lilo in /boot on this drive. It will get past the graphical
screen, show "Loading Linux ..." and hang with the cursor blinking. What's it
about red Hat, Grub and Lilo that's happening here?
