No keyboard response from chainloaded windows XP bootloader

I can use the current grub to select between my linux install and "DOS".  If 
I select DOS, it chainloads the MS bootmanager that came with XP.  At this 
point I see the options of loading XP or 2000AS.  Unfortunately I have no 
keyboard response so I have to wait for the timer to run out and load XP by 
default automatically.  Of course I can't load Windows 2000 (big loss, I 
know).  Once XP loads I get the keyboard back.  The system has a logitech 
USB keyboard with an ABIT IT7.  Any ideas? thx!
