LVM2 <http://sources.redhat.com/lvm2/> stands for Logical Volume Manager
on top of device mapper <http://sources.redhat.com/dm/>. This is the way
to use LVM with Linux 2.6+. The patch found at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42433 will enable the LVM version
which is shipped with Linux 2.4+ (not based on device mapper). But it
did not work for me with LVM2.
