About grub bootloader

Hi folks,

I have been tried using grub bootloader on USB pendrive (USB flash
drive) for booting but the BIOS of the motherboard can't detect the
pendrive.  My test was to check whether a pendrive can be used as HD
using grub bootloader to boot.

Please advise whether grub bootloader can be used similar to syslinux
to boot the pendrive.  I tried the latter and it booted the pendrive
without problem.  If YES please advise how to make it.  Links would be
appreciated.  TIA
