Isn't it strange that this required a double click in the first place? I 
would think that any down-clcik on the board would be cause for clearing 
the premove, and have added code to do that. This automatically solve the 
problem with promotion premoves.

Or would there be people that want to grab a new piece for the move after 
premove?
