ddd/jdb problem

The
problem:
Running ddd/jdb on
Redhat Linux 7.2.
The problem is that
none of the glyphs (breakpoint stopsign, linemarker arrow) show up in the source
code window. There is definitely a placeholder (white square) where the
image should be, but no image. This makes debugging rather difficult since
I cannot see what line I'm at.
Your advice is
appreciated.
