I found rm ~/.ddd/init works.I even tracked down the specific line in init that causes the problem, but i forgot what it was.

I could not post the break-point or anything else. After that I opened it again by typing 'sudo ddd name_of_file' and it opened my DDD again. I did not see a hourglass pointer again, but it still could not do anything in it. I also reinstalled it twice, but it is still the same. Thank you for your help! A.M
