In a word: pg_dump is a pain in the neck.  You can't conveniently use
it with passwords (you have to go through an expect script, and even
that might not work), you have to manually reorder data before you can
re-create the database, etc.

  Should you happen to be amongst the pg_dump developers, please fix
these and I'll be glad to switch to pg_dump :-)
