This is indead the first purpose of breaking the network protocol. :)

Yes. But my remark was more targeted at your users. We have decided to
test demexp within Gulliver. So you'll have about a dozen of people
using your package in the following days. It would be quite unpleasant
for them to be unable to connect to the server after an 'apt-get
dist-upgrade'.
So either you don't upgrade your current repository or setup a new one
for latest demexp releases.
