Hello Barry,
If I recall correctly, the 'default editor' should be the default
editor that your Linux distro uses to open Python files.
There are probably command-line ways to do this (like
update-alternatives, for Debian-based distros?), but what I usually do
is just right-clicking a Python file and changing its default editor
on a desktop GUI file manager.
