Are you sure?  For example, is the Mono project interested in
building a runtime that allows IL-based portable executables
to exchange data with programs that come in the form of Java
bytecode?

What exactly is so dangerous about there being another free
software project with similar goals, where one can safely
read the code as a source of inspiration?
