similar here:

started in dec. 07 on two dedicated webservers with one ftp backup space.

1) suse 9.3, duplicity 0.4.7 from distro, python 2.4
2) opensuse 10.2, python 2.5, duplicity 0.4.9 from tarball

using ftplicity and cron for daily incremental, monthly full backups and a verifying pass afterwards....
even with notice level log messages about timeouts of the ftp connection ..
no single failed backup so far..

respect to the duplicity folks.. ede

I started out with v0.4.9 back in January and it's been smooth sailing from the start.

Thank you to the project devs.

I just wanted to say that ever since I upgraded to v0_4_9, _every
single_ attempt I've made at backing up my stuff has worked perfectly.
This is news; every previous release of duplicity had some sort of
bump or other. Thanks!
