Friends,

duplicity has been a fantastic tool for our customers at rsync.net who want encryption at-rest in addition to the in-flight encryption they get from SSH. I suspect we have 500+ customers who use duplicity as their primary backup mechanism rsync.net cloud storage.

We'd like to serve more customers like that - clueful, unix-based and security minded - so we are offering a "duplicity friends" rate for our cloud storage of 4 cents per gigabyte-month.[1][2][3]

-----

Unrelated to this, we would also like to repeat our original $500 contribution to the duplicity project that we made in 2007. At that time, there was no maintainer and new versions were very slow to be released. Since then, Kenneth Loafman has been maintaining the project and development has been regular and healthy. We trust Ken to distribute, or use, these funds to further this development.

Thanks,

John Kozubik
rsync.net, Inc.

[2] Yes, slightly more expensive than S3, but also with no usage/bandwidth/transfer charges *and* with 7 days of filesystem snapshots included, so perhaps about even ...

[3] Yes, we did get permission from Ken and others to post this to the duplicity-talk mailing list.
