There are very few packages where anyone pushes to `elpa.git` (and
currently none in `nongnu.git`), so it's not a major issue.
[ And indeed the two packages where problems have appeared so far
  (`coffee-mode` and `embark` are pulled by that mirroring thingy).  ]

It's considered too costly.
