I wasn't using any of the programmer-specific functions of 'project.el' or 'projectile,' so as a test I switched to using karthink's 'consult-dir' (avail on Melpa) to quickly
access my project directories, which I have bookmarked with the built-in bookmark.el.In this case, a "project" is simply folder containing documents pertaining to any articles I'm writing or classes I'm teaching currently. When I finish an article or a class I simply remove the bookmark and it ceases to show up when I call 'consult-dir.'
It's nothing fancy, but it's quicker than 'find-file,' and so far I haven't missed any of the functionality offered by project or projectile. My thinking was: pare down my config, and then build back up if I found anything missing. So far, I haven't felt the need.

I am using Emacs for almost everything, as I have done for decades. I use Org-Mode, though I do not take advantage of too many bells and whistles. Various tools offer to help organize "Projects;" but here's the problem for me: they seem to cater to the programmer, for programming projects. The very word "Project" is fuzzy, imprecise in usage: I have seen it used in the sense of a writing project, or without boundaries; yet in the tutorials and guides for, for example, "projectile" project managerpackage, it seems to focus on programming projects.I would like to ask about how others, in the "emacs-humanities" community, use such project managers for various kinds of projects (in the loose sense), and whether such as "projectile" have been useful, and whatmodifications were useful.I am not a programmer, and my attention span is declining. I do not wish to embark on a large scale "project" of coding and configuring in elisp toget somewhere with this. Thank you for any thoughts about this, Alan Davis
