I'm failing to recreate this with Emms and mp3 files. Can you please
provide a detailed step-by-step recipe to recreate this issue?

Among other test, I've been editing an mp3 file with Emms, then with
easytag, then with Emms again. I've seen no tags being lost in this back
and forth.
