Hi Nick,
I think that the your problems with escaped/non-scaped characters are mostly
introduced by the use of "echo". Why don't you just create a local file
'settings.php' and upload it? The configuration template will be far easier to
read.
Anyways, it's good to know the triple-slash-escaping-trick. :-) It would have
bitten us sooner or later.
