Hey everyone,
The next big release of FreeIPMI will include a new daemon called
'ipmiseld'. Similar to the ipmievd daemon w/ ipmitool, it monitors the
IPMI SEL and logs those messages to the syslog so that everything is in
one place. It adds many FreeIPMI-isms as additional features,
including:
- One daemon can monitor & log multiple hosts w/ hostrange support
(presently tested up to ~140 nodes)
- Using the results from SEL event interpretations (i.e. is the SEL
event nominal, warning, or critical), events can be filtered out before
being logged.
- SEL logs can be automatically cleared when full.
- Log message formats are configurable using a printf-like style.
I'm sure there can be issues with certain motherboards, so I would
appreciate any input from anyone on this new tool/daemon. Any input on
bugs, issues, or even better default values would be welcome.
The latest alpha release with this code can be found here:
