I think it is necessary if it gets people involved who wouldn't
otherwise be involved.

Okay, I admit there might be more cross-posting and times when a
conversation on one list might be relevant to both, but I feel that if
a separate group is to be setup (which is independent of Manchester
FS) then they need their own mailing list. I think it will help
encourage more people to ask questions and become involved within a
relatively 'safe' environment, before moving onto the main LUG/FS
mailing lists (should they chose to).
