I've edited unixport/makefile to run raw_gcl under strace -f. The trace
when raw_gcl is invoked by make and fails is short, it's
gcl_fail.strace.bz2. The trace when I invoke raw_gcl from the command line
is much longer: gcl_succ.strace.bz2.
