[gfsd]gcc internal error

Dear Sir or Madam-

I have installed gcc, g++ version 2.95.2 along with autoconf, automake, bison
gnu make and more.  All have worked very well I might add.

System:

SunOS quark 5.6 Generic_105181-19 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIi-Engine

The code is a part of the imap-2000 distribution from the U. of Wash. and
was unmodified by me:

c-client/mbx.c

Error:

gcc -g -O2    -c -o mbx.o mbx.c
mbx.c: In function `mbx_hdrpos':
mbx.c:1371: internal error--unrecognizable insn:

        (nil)))

Changing the optimization level does not affect the error.

I've attached the code.  If that is a non-standard practice,
please accept my apologies in advance.
