Yes Sam. Sorry I didn't post the solution. Here it is:

Press del key upon powerup. On PMON type...

load (usb0,0)/boot/vmlinux-
initrd (usb0,0)/boot/initrd.img-
g console=tty no_auto_cmd root=/dev/hda1 rootdelay=8 machtype=8.9

It boots with the installed OS. When done open a terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install linux-image-
Create /boot.cfg as specified in the wiki
