I agree with you - it would be better with a synopsis of arbitrary
length.
When you post a News article in the Wiki, there is a field for the
whole article and another field for a 'Description'. If you put a
Description in this field, that is displayed in the Index. If you leave
it blank, it defaults to the first 150 characters of the article.(the
number of charcters is able to be changed from index to index)
It is a bad habit (and laziness) on my part not to have completed this
field. I have changed it for the gnumed.conf .de report. The maligned
'more.....' suffix is not currently user changeable. I can see that it
would be much better if it said 'Full Report' or something like that so
I will change the system tonight.
I have changed the News Index on the home page to one column, as
suggested. (Actually, I think I prefer the two column view)
