[Gnumed-devel] Naming conventions

I have posted a wiki page into which I cut and pasted what I was able to scrounge from the developer list. The URL is given below and if anyone wants to suggest additional ones please add them or just email the list (or me) and I can add them for you.

For example I noted in pyCommon the file names (except for __init__.pyc and __init__.py ) begin "gm" and are inCamelCase

Is it hoped that most or all python code files that pertain to gnumed will begin "gm..." whereas configuration and log files (which I imagine may be plain text files as in the bootstrap- and redo- files that are in /server/ ) are open to whatever naming prevails (though it may still be desirable to keep some consistency on this).

Also it would be nice not to have a file of the same name in different directories, is it appropriate as people contemplate to create a new file to check their own hard drive (maybe after first updating their cvs) to see whether the file name that they had in mind is already in use?
