What is your suggestion for detecting corruption as opposed to
a clean slate ? IOW, to decide when it is safe to attempt a
database reinstall.
One step towards this may be use of the table
gm_schema_revision and Hilmar's work in
pycommon/gmSchemaRevision.py. However, we'd still be dealing
with *assumed* but not verified facts.
Horst did have in his initial concepts the idea of self-healing
and self-installation but I think one needs to proceed very
carefully on such measures. I am all for it when it comes to
installation of system-provided forms, lists, data, perhaps
even plugins. It also makes perfect sense to *tell* the user
when GnuMed thinks it is looking at a corrupt or simply empty
database and he better go talk to some admin person.
