If you are buying a new Mac, Apple keeps the choices very small - you
can't get a Mac to match those specs now. (As a very rough rule of
thumb, because of the different architecture, I understand that a Mac
at 1GHz is about the speed of a Windoze at 2GHz)

The CRT model is the eMac (US $799, Euro 849)
The flat screen model is the iMac (US $1299)
The 'consumer' notebook is the iBook. (US $1099)
The 'business' notebook is the Powerbook. (US $1599)
If you want to buy a second hand mac to run OSX, I would recommend at
least a 350MHz G3 with 256Mb RAM. Below that it is too sluggish.
Horst's 300MHz powerbook might be OK to experiment with but would drive
you mad if using it for anything else, I would think.
Looking on ebay.de there are a couple of machines that might be
suitable - try and get one that already has OSX installed or there will
be additional expense.
To run gnumed you also need to install the free developer tools CD that
comes with OSX. You can also download this from Apple.

(Sales of the flat screen iMac have been suspended till September
pending some big announcement)
