I had to create a symbolic link from gnumed/pycommon 
to /usr/lib/python/site-packages/Gnumed/pycommon

I think I remember you don't have anything in site-packages, right ?
gmEMRBrowser doesn't find the required modules from pycommon.

Karsten will most likely have a solution for this.
